1 injured in 2-vehicle accident downtown

Cara L. Carley of Emporia is loaded into an ambulance by Firefighter/EMT Jerad Blaufuss after a two-car accident Wednesday. Carley was backing out of a parking stall on the 600 block of Merchant St. when she was struck by a car driven by James E. Emley of Emporia.
One person was taken to Newman Regional Health following a two-car accident in the 600 block of Merchant Street Wednesday morning.
Cara L. Carley of Emporia was backing out of a parking stall onto Merchant Street in front of JavaCat-5 about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when her car was struck by a car heading northbound on Merchant Street. The car was being driven by James E. Emley of Emporia.
Emley was uninjured, according to the Emporia Police Department. No information on Carley was available this morning.
