Six alcohol establishments caught in sting

Sunday, January 27, 2008

Six alcohol-serving establishments in rural areas outside of Emporia have charges pending after the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office caught them attempting to sell alcohol to a minor, the sheriff’s office reported in a release Sunday.

A minor acting as an agent of the sheriff’s office went to 10 establishments that sell alcohol and attempted to make purchases. Deputy Pat Stevenson said he couldn't yet reveal the six establishments that agreed to sell to the minor.

The sheriff’s office was acting on a “Party Patrol” grant provided by the state’s Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
