Fire does little damage at hotel
Thursday, August 28, 2008
A fire reported shortly before noon today at GuestHouse International, 2700 W. 18th Ave., did little damage, fire officials say.
Emporia Fire Chief Jack Taylor, said workers were soldering on the heating and air conditioning system at the hotel when they caught some insulation on fire. Minimal damage is reported, Taylor said.
“It started smoldering,” Taylor said. “We got it out.”
Around noon today, fire crews were ventilating smoke out of the hotel.
“Fortunately it’s not a big deal,” Taylor said.
