Emporia State softball team to host Regionals

Winner of Regional tournament advances to College World Series

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

For the third time in the last four years, the Emporia State softball team will host the North Central Regional tournament at the Trusler Sports Complex.

The Regional will take place from Wednesday, May 7 through Sunday, May 11, in Emporia. The winner of the eight-team Regional tournament advances to the College World Series in Houston, Texas.

ESU (36-15) earned the right to host after being ranked No. 2 in this week's North Central Regional rankings. The No. 1 team in the region, Southwest Minnesota State, did not put in a bid to host the event.

The Hornets open MIAA Tournament play at noon on Thursday, taking on Fort Hays State in Shawnee.
