Three Burlington residents recently received prison sentences as a result of their convictions on methamphetamine charges.
Brian E. Moore, 38, was sentenced Wednesday to 22 months in prison for his January arrest on a charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamines, a level 3 drug felony, according to Coffey County Attorney Doug Witteman.
Witteman filed charges in September 2007, after a traffic stop near BETO Junction.
“Officers with the Coffey County Sheriff’s office had received information that Moore and his wife would be returning from the Kansas City area with methamphetamine that they had purchased for themselves and another person,” Witteman said. “After discovering meth in the vehicle, both Brian and Betty Moore were arrested.”
Betty J. Moore, 40, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute meth and was sentenced earlier this year to a 16-month prison sentence. She was granted 18 months’ probation on conditions that she serve 30 days in the Coffey County Jail and successfully complete a drug treatment program as part of her probation.
Lisa D. Davis, 46, was sentenced in March to 9 months in prison for attempted possession of methamphetamine. She also was granted probation for up to 18 months, and was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and successfully complete a drug treatment program as part of her probation.
