Wheat State new, bigger
Pizza restaurant moves into former Godfather’s building
Friday, October 19, 2007
Wheat State Pizza has opened in its new restaurant at 1120 Commercial St.
The pizza restaurant moved from smaller quarters at 1015 Commercial St. into the building formerly occupied by Godfather’s Pizza. Manager Adam Hagemann said Wheat State has given the restaurant a new look and feel, changing walls, floors and tables.
Godfather’s had only tables for dine-in customers. Wheat State has added large wooden booths along one wall. New tile has been put on the floor and raised floor areas now have wooden flooring.
“It’s totally different in here,” Hagemann said, pointing out that the countertops had been replaced, too.
The added space allows other changes for Wheat State. The restaurant has begun a $5.99 lunch buffet that includes pizza, salad and a drink. In the evening hours, the restaurant has table service instead of the buffet line or the counter service that was used at the smaller restaurant, Hagemann said.
For customers who prefer to watch the people and traffic go by on Commercial Street, the restaurant has several stools facing the front window.
Not all of the changes were inside the restaurant. The exterior got a face-lift too. Gone is the old tile, replaced by freshly painted wood.
