ESU Band Festival
When: Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, 9 a.m. to noon
Where: Welch Stadium - ESU, Emporia

Description: Come and watch area bands work with local clinicians on their music and style.
ESU will give an exhibition at 9:30, am followed in 15 minute increments by Burlington, Neodesha, Wamego, Spring Hill, Andover, Independence, Gardner, and Emporia High Schools. Awards will be presented at noon, followed by a lunch.
Judges for the event include Gary McCarty of Flint Hills Music, and Dr. Gary Ziek and Dr. Jeff Hodapp of the ESU music department. Admission charge is $5 for the morning's events, concluding with an awards ceremony starting at noon.
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place, as well as a sweepstakes trophy for the overall winner with the most points. Plaques will also be awarded to Outstanding Drumline, Outstanding Drum Major, and Outstanding Colorguard. Dr. Tracy Freeze, ESU Marching Hornets director, is the host of the event, assisted by Dr. Kate Bergman, sponsor of Tau Beta Sigma, the honorary band sorority.
Tau Beta Sigma, as well as Kappa Kappa Psi, the honorary band fraternity, will be selling concessions and T-shirts at the event. The public is welcome and invited at attend.
