SOPRANO ANTONIA FELIX IN RECITAL
Soprano Antonia Felix will present a recital on Sunday, February 10, at 2:30 pm in the Marvin Auditorium at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. The program is free to the public and guests are welcome. An informal reception will follow the recital.
Antonia Felix has sung on concert stages throughout the United States and Europe. Her own Swedish ancestry inspired her specialization in Scandinavian art song. Her current recital program will include introductions to works by such Scandinavian composers as Grieg, Sibelius, Pettersson and Rangström as well as songs by Leonard Bernstein, Antonin Dvorak, Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber. She will be accompanied by Ms. Angel Yang, a Piano Performance graduate student at Emporia State University. Ms. Yang is herself an award winning piano soloist, both here in Kansas and in her native China.
A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ms. Felix studied at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, the Mannes College of Music and Texas A&M University. In addition to her opera stage appearances in New York and her composition of works for voice and various instruments, Ms. Felix is a New York Times bestselling author with 15 books to her credit. Her most recent title is Condi: The Condolezza Rice Story. Her books have brought her a wide range of speaking engagements and international media appearances. She currently lives in Emporia, Kansas., where she is an instructor in English at Emporia State University.
